DUTIES:
- Responsible for the design of municipal infrastructure for re-construction projects (sanitary sewer, storm sewer, water main, sidewalk, roads, drainage, etc.);
- Provide technical support to all departments with regards to structural design, reviews and remedial work practices;
- Responsible to update and maintain all bridges and road assets and provide detailed reports for planning purposes;
- Manage data acquisition and coordinate activities between departments (MDW, PSAB, GIS, etc.);
- Responsible to provide technical information with regards to water and sanitary capacities in all areas of the municipality;
- Provide field supervisory support to Engineering Manager for City of Timmins capital projects;
- Assist Engineering Manager in obtaining project approvals from various levels of government (MOE, MNR, Fisheries, etc.);
- Provide project management support to City of Timmins capital projects;
- Participate in the preparation of Request for Proposal and Request for Tenders for municipal project;
- Undertake engineering studies and reviews as required to improve efficiency of operations; and
- Other duties as assigned.

Reporting to the Supervisor of Development, the Development Technologist is responsible for providing engineering comments on Site Plan Applications including the review of sanitary sewers, storm sewers, water servicing and road design to ensure compliance with the City of Brantford's Standards and that all Ministry of the Environment and Climate Control, Ontario Provincial Standards are complied with.

Key areas of responsibility include:
- Providing leadership and direction in the development and implementation of Transportation capital programs for the Region of Niagara;
- Developing, managing and administering annual and multi-year Capital and Operating budgets in the range of $60 million;
- Managing information prepared and disseminated to public/media/external stakeholders and working with Corporate Communications to manage communication efforts;
- Managing people resource planning for the division/operating unit to enable to delivery of quality work and results.

Assists Environmental Services Engineers in planning, designing, programming engineering infrastructure within various Engineering and Operational Divisions in the Service Area. Duty assignments are rotated amongst the Divisions for periods of approximately one year - over a total four-year program. The program is aimed at developing engineering management expertise within the Service Area. The position reports to the City Engineer for purposes of annual assignments and career management, and reports to Environmental & Engineering Services Engineers or Division Heads within the respective Divisions for professional direction and supervision in day to day tasks.
