Reporting to the Project Design & Asset Manager, this is a key position supporting the design, tendering and construction of transportation capital projects, to support taking them from the Municipal Class EA approval through the tender stage. These include cross sections, storm drainage plans and storm sewer design, other underground infrastructure, horizontal and vertical geometric design, roadside safety design requirements and traffic control systems. -

Reporting to the Director of Highways & Transportation (County Engineer), the Manager of Public Works is a leader in the area of public works with a focus on Roads and Bridges. The incumbent will provide operational leadership including management and implementation of the Highways strategic vision of an advanced and cohesive transportation network and services across the County. This includes, in consultation with the Director, the organization, development, planning and implementation of services within the financial and physical guidelines established by the organization. -

The focus and main duties of the Engineering Design & Construction Technologist/Inspector will be to complete detailed design and drawings for new and replacement infrastructure projects in the areas of storm and sanitary sewers, sidewalks and roads. Provide technical and administrative support in the preparation of final tender documents and for the review of engineering reports and drawings. The successful candidate may also be required, on a limited basis to provide onsite inspection and oversight of City construction projects to ensure the projects are built in accordance with plans and specifications, completed on time, within set budget limits and following proper safety procedures. Recommend optimum solutions based on knowledge of site conditions, methods and available materials, time factors and budget constraints.

The Manager of Water Operations is responsible for the management, operation and administration of the Water Operations Branch, which ensures residents and visitors of the City of Barrie receive a competent, continuous and sustainable supply of safe drinking water, as well as maintaining sufficient water supply for fire suppression purposes. Primarily, this involves directing the daily operational and maintenance activities of the Water Operations Branch to ensure compliance with all applicable, drinking water legislation, regulations and Branch, Department and Corporate policies and procedures. In addition, this position also develops, implements and oversees the administration of programs related to water treatment, supply and distribution, and customer service.
