  • Reporting to the Senior Development Engineer, this position is responsible for coordinating, reviewing and recommending approvals of subdivision engineering submissions and site plans. You will assist in the preparation and administration of subdivision agreements, and other tracking documentation and monitors subdivision developments. 

    The main responsibilities include: providing technical guidance to internal staff and external engineering services; Conduct reviews of engineering plans for new subdivisions and site plans for compliance with Town standards; Prepares Council reports and By-Laws related to subdivisions such as agreement approvals and assumption; Oversees the review, approval, monitoring and enforcement of site alteration activity to ensure conformance with the Town’s Site Alteration By-law; Co-ordinates comments and changes with developers consultants and recommends acceptance to the Director;Reviews M-plans and Condominium Plans for conformance with “Draft Plan Conditions” and assist Legal Services with the registration of Plan; Administers the terms of registered subdivision and development agreements to ensure compliance; Reviews letter of credit reduction requests and approves appropriate action; Collaborates with the team on engineering and services for new development including advising on design details, implementation conditions in agreements and related issues of concern, and takes on other assigned duties as required.

Reporting to and under the direction of the Water Resources Engineer, the Climate Change Specialist (stormwater) will perform duties related to Town’s Climate Change related initiates with respect to stormwater infrastructures and programs. Duties of this position will include: • providing input to the Town’s Climate Change Adaptation Plan related to stormwater infrastructures and programs; • participating and providing input for the stormwater fee implementation plan being developed under the Region’s Climate Change Adaptation Plan; • reviewing the Town’s existing Intensity –Duration- Frequency curves and updating to account for anticipated impacts from climate change; • managing or undertaking stormwater infrastructure capacity assessments and updating the Town’s storm sewer model, completing an analysis to determine identified capacity issues and providing recommendations for modification to handle existing and future needs; • managing the Town’s culvert/bridge capacity master plan project and recommending improvements/ replacements to resolve any road flooding issues or to meet future needs with particular attention to climate change; • managing or undertaking overland flow route assessments in the developed area and preparing an overland flow route improvements plan to ensure major system runoff can be adequately conveyed to receiving waterbodies with minimum risk to infrastructure and property; • managing or assisting with the management of stormwater/ water resources major study projects and capital works projects related to climate change; • preparing technical memorandums or reports for submission to internal departments, committees and/or council, and external agencies/ consultants; • reviewing and responding to external agencies enquires, project proposals, postings of new regulations/guidelines including participating in working groups/ committees; • researching, critiquing, and summarizing stormwater related issues/ solutions/ emerging technologies including the practices of other regions/ municipalities and industry standard practices with respect to climate change; • other related duties as assigned.
