PEO will launch this version of the program in January 2023. Please monitor this web page for the latest details about this version of the program.

Note: Pursuant to the upcoming section 51.2 of Regulation 941, PEO will introduce a mandatory version of the Practice Evaluation and Knowledge (PEAK) program which has been piloted on a voluntary basis since 2017. This means that from January 2023, PEO licence holders must complete the PEAK program annually. This requirement will apply to professional engineers (both practising and non-practising) and extends to limited licence holders as well as persons who hold a suspended professional engineer or limited licence.

Once this initiative is in place in 2023, Ontario will be the final Canadian jurisdiction to introduce a mandatory CPD program for engineers.

Under the new version of the program that starts in January 2023, practising licence holders will be marked as “permitted to practise” and must complete the full program every year. Their program-related requirements will be to:

  • Complete an annual practising declaration and PEO’s annual practice evaluation questionnaire,
  • Complete PEO’s annual professional practice module, and
  • Report to PEO the continuing professional development they completed during the year.

Under the new version of the program that starts in January 2023, non-practising licence holders, including retirees, will have a choice. They can choose to be marked as “permitted to practise” and must complete the full program requirements like practising persons (see above). Or, they can choose to be marked as “not permitted to practise” and they will not have to complete the annual CPD report, but they must complete a few reduced program requirements every year. Their reduced program-related requirements will be to:

  • Complete an annual non-practising declaration and PEO’s annual non-practising survey, and
  • Complete PEO’s annual professional practice module.

Under the new version of the program that starts in January 2023, licence holders who are on fee remission will be marked as “not permitted to practise” and they will not have to complete the annual CPD report but they must complete a few reduced program requirements every year.
