OPS Training - Fall Course Offerings

The MEA is offering two courses/webinars on Ontario Provincial Standards (OPS) this October. 

These courses are a mandatory requirement for the Municipal Infrastructure Training certificate. Attendees will be able to collect 5.5/6.0 Professional Development Hours (PDH) which can apply to the PEO and OACETT mandatory requirements for continuing development. 

OPS 101:  October 8-9; 1:30 pm - 4:15 pm

Who Should Attend?

Individuals involved in the design and delivery of infrastructure construction projects from the municipal, provincial, consultant, or contractor’s side. Participants will learn: 

  1. The purpose and benefits of harmonised standards such as OPS
  2. How to apply OPS to:​
  • Improve contract preparation and management
  • Build efficient and industry standard specifications
  • Mitigate financial and legal risks for your Organization

OPS 201:  October 15 + 17; 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Who Should Attend?

Individuals (employed by public or private sectors) who have a working knowledge with OPS and involved in construction project delivery and contract documents preparation of linear infrastructure projects at municipal or provincial level. Attendees will learn how to use OPS in setting up a framework for successful project delivery.

Group activities and scenarios will be used in the course to explain the process for measuring and managing progress payments following the Construction Act’s Prompt Payment concept and the OPS Specs and Drawings, as well as the use of OPSS.PROV.127 in managing Times & Materials. Examples and Scenarios will be presented in the course to explore how the OPSS.MUNI.100 General Conditions of Contract can be used as a tool in managing the contract administration, dealing with claims and disputes, and closing the contract and releasing holdbacks.
