- Responsible for the design of municipal infrastructure for re-construction projects (sanitary sewer, storm sewer, water main, sidewalk, roads, drainage, etc.);
- Provide technical support to all departments with regards to structural design, reviews and remedial work practices;
- Responsible to update and maintain all bridges and road assets and provide detailed reports for planning purposes;
- Manage data acquisition and coordinate activities between departments (MDW, PSAB, GIS, etc.);
- Responsible to provide technical information with regards to water and sanitary capacities in all areas of the municipality;
- Provide field supervisory support to Engineering Manager for City of Timmins capital projects,
- Assist Engineering Manager in obtaining project approvals from various levels of government (MOE, MNR, Fisheries, etc.),
- Provide project management support to City of Timmins capital projects,
- Participate in the preparation of Request for Proposal and Request for Tenders for municipal projects,
- Undertake engineering studies and reviews as required to improve efficiency of operations,
- Other duties as assigned.

This position primarily involves the municipal engineering review and provision of comments on land development applications. Duties include engineering review and comment of Official Plan Amendments, secondary plans, zoning changes, condominium plans, Committee of Adjustment and Site Plans through the planning process. Coordinate and administer the Municipal Consent processes for the location and installation of other utilities within the municipal right of way including plans review, associated liaison duties with utilities and the public, and provide municipal consent. Complete preliminary and detailed review of development design calculations and reports for new and replacement infrastructure associated to development applications. Provide detailed engineering review and comment of the municipal servicing components of new subdivision development and redevelopment proposals, zoning changes, condominium plans, site plans and storm water management reports. Provide or review servicing cost estimate calculations for subdivision and development agreements and conduct preliminary field investigations, as necessary, to assess the impact of proposed plans. Liaison with other agencies, developers, consultants and members of the general public.

- Provide advanced engineering advice and guidance in bituminous materials engineering and technology;
- Support the ministry's construction and rehabilitation activities;
- Resolve complex technical issues;
- Carry out investigative projects and research to evaluate materials and technologies to determine, appropriateness and effectiveness for ministry programs, construction and maintenance/repair operations;
- Write specifications, construction documents, reports, and make presentations;
- Implement new bituminous materials, related technologies, procedures and cost –effective improvements, to support effective design, construction and maintenance;
- Supervise technical staff.

Reporting to the Manager of Development Engineering, the Development Inspection Technologist works in the field and within the department to monitor, inspect, review, evaluate, effect correspondence and maintain records regarding developer compliance for all development agreements, and all associated development plans, studies and applicable policies.

The Transportation Engineer is the senior lead responsible for review of intensification / greenfield complex development applications. This individual will collaborate with the Development Review Team on projects and will provide expertise on transportation engineering matters. This role also involves the management / undertaking of major transportation studies and traffic operational analysis including identification, evaluation and assessment of proposed transportation infrastructure improvements to support the expansion and improvements of the City’s transportation system as it relates to growth. The transportation Engineer will provide input to development agreements to ensure transportation related equirements are accurately and appropriately represented / addressed. This individual will develop implementation strategies required to mitigate the impact of development proposals. The Transportation Engineer will seek to provide on-going continuous improvement and increased efficiencies within the current development review process and will assist the Manager to review transportation system requirements within established service delivery expectations. As subject matter expert, works in collaboration and partners with others as needed to review and negotiate transportation engineering and operational solutions. Represents the City’s interest in technical advisory committees.
