Reporting to the Manager of Construction, the successful candidate will be the key staff member to develop, assess, administer and provide continued technical support for the quality assurance and quality control program related to capital construction projects. These large scale projects may include roads, sidewalks, water/wastewater infrastructure, structural liners and structures such as bridges, culverts and retaining walls. -
This position is responsible to the Director of Engineering Services to provide technical assistance to Project Teams from concept to close out in support of quality customer service outcomes and the Business Plan for the Division. Ensures all internal projects undertaken by Engineering Services comply with engineering requirements, including the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) Act, and provides oversight and quality assurance for compliance with engineering requirements, including the PEO Act, for all GCS projects delivered by external consultants.

This position is responsible to the Director of Engineering Services for the management of the Design Services Section including technical aspects, supervision, planning and co-ordination of the design and drafting staff; in support of quality customer service outcomes and the Business Plan for the Division.

The incumbent is primarily responsible for managing the distribution and quality of work related to the processing of all development applications, to approval, as they pertain to Municipal servicing matters. The incumbent will undertake engineering analysis in order to review and evaluate the compilation of technical comments on development engineering documents associated with Draft Plans of Subdivision, Site Plans, Land Severances, Official Plan Amendments, Zoning By-law Amendments, Committee of Adjustment and all other Planning review processes and compliance requests. This is accomplished through the effective management of a skilled team of Coordinators, Technicians, Consulting Engineers and Contractors. Presenting results in written and verbal form to staff, elected officials, and the public is an integral part of this position. They also provide supervision to the Coordinator, Development Approvals and Technician, Development Approvals.

Reporting to the Supervisor of Water & Wastewater Planning, the Project Manager is responsible for leading Region-wide water/wastewater infrastructure servicing studies and long term growth related capital implementation plans. Key undertakings include the completion of Master Servicing Plans, Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Studies, Development Charges Technical studies and infrastructure staging plans which are integral to the Region’s Development Charges Bylaw and Allocation Programs.
