Under the general direction of the Division Manager IV, Wastewater & Drainage Engineering assists with the expansion and modifications to sewage treatment plants, pumping stations, sewer systems, storm water management facilities, river pollution and other environmental matters.

Position Summary: Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Manager of Operations is responsible for planning, administration and management functions of the Department, including responsibility for City streets, water and sewer functions, civil works construction and waste management. Provides or directs engineering design of municipal services and projects, contract administration of municipal infrastructure renewal projects, and manages inspections of new subdivision servicing works. The Manager of Operations supervises a staff a 6 direct reports and 25 plus indirect reports. The Manager of Operations is responsible for developing, managing an operating budget of 6 million dollars plus capital of approximately 14 million dollars annually.

Position mandate: To plan, manage and direct the activities of the Public Works Department including co-ordinating the development, design, improvement and maintenance of the Township's infrastructure in accordance with the policies, goals and objectives established by Council. To assist Council in developing goals and objectives for the efficient operation of the Public Works Department.

Reporting to the CAO, the director provides strategic oversight and guidance in ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of programs and services provided by the Oxford County Public Works department. As a member of the County’s Senior Management Team, the director is also responsible for organizational leadership and broadly supporting all County programs and services while leading their adaptation, as appropriate, to meet community sustainability and service excellence aspirations.
