Under the general guidance and direction of the Manager of Design and Construction, the Senior Construction Engineer position is responsible for undertaking, directing and administering construction contracts for capital projects related to the City’s roads, sidewalks, and bridges; sanitary sewerage; storm sewerage; stormwater management; drainage; water supply, storage and distribution; parking; traffic signals; airport; pumping stations; landfill; and infrastructure rehabilitation. Additionally, this position assists in the planning of capital projects for expansions and improvements to the City’s infrastructure and provides technical advice and guidance with respect to the impact of development on municipal networks. Overall, this position plays an integral role in managing all aspects of construction contract administration to ensure capital projects are delivered on scope, on schedule and within budget in accordance with City standards. In doing so, it will enable the City of Barrie to continue to deliver the services that it provides; maintain community sustainability; and to provide a high quality of life for the citizens and visitors of the City of Barrie.

The Chatham-Kent Public Utilities Commission (PUC) currently has an opening for a permanent full-time Engineering Technologist in the Water & Wastewater Services division. This position reports to the Project Engineer. The Engineering Technologist is responsible for assisting in the smooth execution of water and wastewater projects of the PUC, providing information to external organizations and internal departments. Preparing and coordinating cost estimates for water and wastewater projects, preparing water and wastewater drawings and contracts, providing construction administration and observation assistance for the PUC projects, and providing engineering support to operations.
