This position is responsible for providing internal/external technical support and project management in the delivery of roads and parks maintenance services, including: software development and support, road repair and renewal, storm drainage, winter control operations, turf management, forestry and leaf collection.

Reporting to the Manager of Transportation Planning, for a variety of engineering assignments relative, but not limited to the technical work associated with the Traffic Operations, Parking Enforcement and Transportation Planning area. Subject to the requirements of the Professional Engineers Act in the practice of professional engineering. Responsible for various engineering assignments, which involve the technical design and preparation specifications, cost estimates and tender documents, and the administration of contracts for the construction of cycling, pedestrians and parking infrastructure and related assignments including the ability to read and interpret policy and procedure manuals, engineering and technical journals, contracts design specifications, reports and legal documents. Write technical and planning reports including reports to Committees and Council. Undertaking traffic studies, results consolidation, analysis and database maintenance necessary for the review of traffic concerns and traffic calming projects. Team participation and support in the undertaking of Municipal Class Environmental Assessments including the ability to participate in public meetings. Maintain the Collision Database (Access format) including the provision of reports and data for various reviews. Use of analytical, organizational and problem solving skills in order to manage assigned transportation projects, work independently and prioritize work to be completed. Use human relations, negotiation and communication skills in order to negotiate with the development community, conduct public meetings, as well as gain the support, commitment and cooperation of other municipal staff in achieving objectives and to participate as an effective team member. Will perform Occupational Health & Safety duties as outlined in the Corporation’s Health and Safety Program. Will perform other related duties as required.

The Capital Projects Coordinator will assist with the scope and definition of projects, and will be responsible for the design, tendering, construction and commissioning of the projects using internal and external resources, while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

As a Project Manager reporting to the Manager, Development Engineering, you will act as a case manager in the review of development applications made under the Planning Act, including official plan amendments, secondary plans, subdivisions, re-zonings, land divisions, site plans and condominium proposals.
In this role, you will be responsible for collecting, coordinating and managing all City works-related comments and correspondence to City Planning, Legal and Finance. You will review engineering drawings and reports (including, but not necessarily limited to, servicing, storm water management, streetscaping designs, and geotechnical reports) submitted in support of development applications. You will be responsible for determining the scope and cost of all City infrastructure required to support the proposed development; discussing and negotiating conditions of approval; reviewing development agreements to ensure that all works-related matters are properly captured; attending preliminary consultation meetings with Planning staff and developers to review and discuss development proposals; overseeing all matters relating to development engineering, including the construction of the development-related municipal infrastructure; and providing direction to ensure compliance with the accepted design, City policies and by-laws, and the management of associated securities.
