COORDINATOR, WATER RESOURCES
An immediate opportunity exists for an experienced Coordinator, Water Resources within the Engineering & Public Works Department. The incumbent is primarily responsible for assisting in the review and management of projects/major studies dealing with the assessment and functionality of the municipality’s stormwater infrastructure and natural watercourses; master drainage plans and Class Environmental Assessments related to stormwater management, water resources, water and wastewater; and other environmental issues. The incumbent will assist in the review and preparation of technical comments on development applications, and be instrumental in the administration of the City’s stormwater management facilities monitoring program.
Successful candidates will have a Bachelors Degree in Civil, Water Resources or Environmental Engineering from a recognized university or a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from a recognized College or post-secondary institution. Candidates must also be registered as a (or Eligible) Professional Engineer or a Civil Engineering Technician or Technologist in Ontario.
A minimum of three years’ experience related to water resources and environmental engineering in a municipal environment with a significant emphasis on stormwater management including a broad knowledge and understanding of civil engineering principles related to hydrology, hydraulics and stormwater management. Experience with operating and maintaining a monitoring program for stormwater ponds would be an asset.
Working knowledge and application of Federal and Provincial regulations and requirements including but not limited to Environmental Assessment Act, Ministry of the Environment Stormwater Management Bests Management Practices Manual, Lakes and Rivers Improvement Act, Ontario Water Resources Acts, Environmental Protection Act, Federal Fisheries Act. Working knowledge of current stormwater management modelling techniques, such as Visual OTTHYMO, HEC-RAS, OTTSWMM, PCSWMM, associated with design and analysis is required.
A valid class G Ontario Driver’s Licence and personal vehicle are required as well as a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract and Criminal Reference Check. You must be willing to work irregular hours and be medically and physically fit to perform the duties of this position.
Remuneration includes a comprehensive benefits package, pension plan and an annual salary ranging from $75,400 to $83,782 (2014 salary TBD).

Full-Time, Salary $98,795 - $116,171 annually
Reporting to the Manager, Engineering is responsible for the planning and implementation of capital projects as part of the 10-year Capital program, including project management services for environmental assessments and design and construction of wastewater treatment facilities, solid waste facilities, water mains, pumping stations and sanitary sewers.
QUALIFICATIONS
•Successful completion of a University Degree in Civil or Mechanical or approved related Engineering field.
•Must be registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with the Professional Engineers Ontario.
•Minimum of five (5) years’ experience (inclusive of E.I.T. experience) in any or all aspects of solid waste facilities, watermain, sanitary sewer, pumping station as well as water and wastewater treatment plant design, with demonstrated commitment to design quality and process as well as complex project management experience.
•Valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s license and reliable vehicle for use on corporate business.

Job Description
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Manager within the Water Infrastructure Management section, the Engineer is responsible for undertaking hydraulic, structural, statistical and economic analysis towards the optimization of water infrastructure construction, replacement and rehabilitation strategies, as well as participating in the development of an Asset Management System for the City's water infrastructure. Also, participates in the infrastructure planning, risk assessment and data management for the City’s water, wastewater and stormwater systems.
Major Responsibilities:
•Develop, maintain and update the City's InfoWorks CS (collection system) and/or InfoWater (distribution system) models, as applicable
•Direct the Division's programs for the collection, maintenance, updating and organization of infrastructure data and condition assessment data in a geospatial environment
•Evaluate the potential impact of new rehabilitation technologies and construction procedures on water infrastructure life-cycle costs
•Keep abreast of infrastructure condition rating, infrastructure financial planning, asset management technology developments and risk assessment methodologies
•Carry out required hydraulic analysis of the water distribution system and wastewater collection systems
•Implement a decision support system for the selection and scheduling of water infrastructure replacement and rehabilitation works to maintain the system in a state of good repair
•Determine the extent and scope of engineering modelling studies to identify problems, consider alternative solutions and recommend a preferred solution
•Participate in identifying long-term infrastructure needs and the development of the Capital Budget for the water and wastewater systems, stormwater management and watercourse improvements
•Prepare Terms of Reference for consultant assignments and agreement contracts with consultants
•Review, and comment on, consultant proposals and recommend approval
•Manage assigned projects, ensuring effective teamwork and communication, high standards of work quality and organizational performance, and continuous learning
•Prepare technical reports, as required
•Review detailed engineering designs for capital projects and document the findings for review by the design team
•Review land development and third-party development applications and assess their impacts on the City's drainage systems •Liaise with internal staff or external agencies, consultants, contractors, and the general public
•Respond to enquiries from residents, consultants and councillors regarding City infrastructure capacity
Key Qualifications:
1. Must be a qualified engineer as defined by Professional Engineers Ontario.
2. Significant experience in water distribution and wastewater collection systems models such as InfoWater and/or InfoWorks, and their use for design and analysis.
3. Significant experience related to water distribution and wastewater collection systems infrastructure condition rating,
infrastructure needs assessment, life-cycle costing and renewal decision-making processes.
4. Significant experience in environmental assessment studies, planning, design and construction of water distribution and wastewater collection systems.
5. Significant experience using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and CAD software (e.g., MicroStation).
6. Strong analytical, conceptual, research and problem-solving skills.
7. Knowledge of City By-Laws and policies regarding water, wastewater and stormwater management issues.
8. Familiarity with federal and provincial regulations and requirement, including, but not limited to, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Sustainable Water & Sewer System Act (Bill 175), Environmental Assessment Act, MOE's Procedure F5-5 and Stormwater BMP Manual, Ontario Water Resources Act, Environmental Protection Act, Federal Fisheries Act, Source Water Protection Act and Safe Drinking Water Act.
9. Ability to participate in, and operate as a fully accountable member of, a multidisciplinary work team.

King Township seeking applications from qualified individuals for the position of Senior Manager of Engineering Services. With a population of approximately 20,000 is a mostly rural community located 20 minutes north of Toronto in the Regional Municipality of York.
Reporting to the Director of Engineering, Public Works & Building, the Senior Manager of Engineering Services will be responsible for the management and leadership of the Engineering Services Division within the Engineering, Public Works & Building Department encompassing development engineering, municipal infrastructure capital works, asset management, municipal permits and utility consent applications.
The successful candidate will possess:
• A current Professional Engineer’s Licence issued by the Professional Engineers Ontario.

As a self-starter, you will be responsible for carrying out engineering studies and research projects, to support the operation of the roads service area and managing the roads capital budget. You will improve service to the community with the ability to proactively analyze municipal roadways in accordance with Minimum Maintenance Standards, Town master plans and asset management program, provide resources for other maintenance audits such as bridge inspections and stormwater facilities, and liaise with the public, other levels of government, utilities, and developers on matters relating to municipal services and engineering.
Your diploma in civil engineering technology and a minimum of five to seven years’ experience in municipal services engineering qualifies you for this position. You must also have or be eligible to obtain a CET designation. Working knowledge of municipal infrastructure, design, drafting, plans review, , and contract administration of municipal infrastructure projects as well as the Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS is essential to your candidacy. Additional qualifications include exceptional interpersonal, project/time management, analytical, presentation, administrative, and organizational skills. You have an up-to-date understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD. A valid Class G driver’s license and reliable vehicle to use on corporate business is required.
