    Working independently, you will:
    · conduct in-depth analyses of facts
    · liaise with internal regional and provincial office staff
    · communicate and negotiate with service provider executives to seek resolutions on highway construction and maintenance contract claims

    Demonstrated Construction and Contract Knowledge:
    · you have knowledge of a broad variety of construction/maintenance techniques, procedures, methods and practices adopted by contractors in performing capital construction and maintenance work
    · you have knowledge of contract preparation, design and documentation to interpret various contract specifications and requirements
    · you have knowledge of standard contract administration practices, procedures and requirements including contract change order procedures

    Salary range: $83,947.00 – $115,752.00 per year

    The Position
    Reporting to the Director, Engineering and Capital Projects, you’ll be responsible for managing the Engineering Services Division. Key duties include supervising staff involved in plans review, subdivision/development agreement preparation and administration, and field inspections; coordinating work of external engineering consultants; developing and implementing communication, quality control and customer service mechanisms related to engineering construction activities; holding site meetings to resolve community or technical/design issues in the field; recommending assumption of services and authorizing security releases/reductions; retaining external engineering resources as needed and managing those contracts; overseeing construction; participating in master servicing and other engineering studies; developing and updating engineering design standards, applying best practices in consultation with other departments; preparing Council reports and attending Council/Committee meetings where necessary; coordinating division budget, forecasts and work planning; contributing to the Department management team.

    The Corporation of the Town of Gananoque is currently seeking candidates for the position of Public Works Director.

    A Separated Town, Gananoque is a lovely, small town of 5500 residents located among the 1000 Islands along the shores of the beautiful St. Lawrence River.     The Director of Public Works reports to the Chief Administrative Officer for all aspects of the town’s engineering, project management and underground and above ground infrastructure, including marine infrastructure.

    Key responsibilities include budgeting and life-cycle management of assets and infrastructure, water distribution system, wastewater collection systems, waste disposal and municipal roads systems ensuring all work is carried out efficiently and within budget, to recognized engineering and municipal standards and according to provincial regulations and municipal by-laws.

    OPERATIONS, MAINTENANCE AND MONITORING BRANCH

    Full-Time, Salary $103,270 - $121,472 annually

    Reporting to the Director, Operations, Maintenance and Monitoring, is responsible for developing, managing and maintaining asset inspection, optimize system and asset performance and protection programs for Water and Wastewater assets and condition assessments for linear and discrete assets; managing centralized inspection, repair and maintenance (R&M) of linear support programs for the Department; managing risk and determining R&M work priorities and input into the Infrastructure Improvement Plan (IIP); supervising consultants and contractors to ensure their compliance of projects; developing Branch KPI’s, Quality Assurance / Control Programs, Computerized Work Management System (Maximo) Standards, polices, procedures, performance monitoring and business practices and processes; utilizing life cycle asset management systems, and reliability centred maintenance (RCM) and total productive maintenance (TPM); developing environment protection partnerships with stakeholders.
