The Corporation of the Town of Tecumseh is currently recruiting for a highly motivated individual to fill the position of Drainage Superintendent/Engineering Technologist.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager Engineering Services, the Drainage Superintendent/Engineering Technologist evaluates and coordinates the development of related issues for drainage, engineering services, public works, and water services; coordinates utilities; assists in establishing present and future infrastructure needs for the municipality; procures cost estimates; prepares design plans and contracts documents; and administers and provides inspection regarding in-house engineering projects. In addition, this position will deal with all matters pertaining to drainage in accordance with the Drainage Act.
Qualifications and Requirements
The successful candidates must possess: a three (3) year University, or College diploma, in Civil Engineering Technology, or Agriculture, combined with a minimum three (3) years progressive experience and proficient working knowledge of the Drainage Act and Tile Drainage Act. The candidates must have successfully completed the Municipal Drainage Superintendent Course through Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food (OMAF). Candidates must be in good standing with Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT); or have equivalent education, experience and professional accreditation. In addition, the preferred candidate will have exceptional organization, management and public relation skills; and will have excellent oral and written communication skills. Previous experience in the use of surveying equipment, plan review and municipal infrastructure, along with knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act, Book 7, Highway Traffic Act and other applicable legislation are required. -

DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS & ENGINEERING
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director of Public Works & Engineering is responsible for all facets of the leadership of the Public Works Department and the management and administration of the County’s Public Works infrastructure including 812 km of urban and rural roadways, drainage systems, 250 bridges, and traffic control devices, as well as operation of the civic addressing and 911 systems.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
• Equivalent to university graduation in Civil Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer.
• Senior management level experience in engineering, preferably in the municipal environment.
• Broad range of experience in a variety of areas including all disciplines of Civil Engineering, administration and management, finance and accounting, statute, contract and common law, fleet procurement and management, and computer applications to engineering and management. • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written form.
• Valid Class G driver’s licence.
• Post-graduate studies in Public/Business Administration and/or AMCT designation would be considered an asset.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Manager of Public Works will oversee the Roads Division and Solid Waste Management Division including direct management of a Roads Superintendent and Environmental Superintendent and indirect management of the public works unionized staff. The successful candidate will direct and manage resources, being responsible to develop, manage and monitor the annual budget, while insuring compliance with all applicable Acts and Regulations including the Occupational Health & Safety Act. The successful candidate will be a flexible continuous learner with a degree in civil engineering with current membership in the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) or a civil engineering technologist with a Civil Engineering Technologist (CET) designation.
The applicant must have direct experience and knowledge in the development of asset management plans for government organizations including but not limited to asset management, fleet management, GIS, work management programs, asset lifecycle management, operational policy development, and the long-term financial planning.
The ability to build and sustain effective collaborative relationships with the public, government ministries, public works staff, members of Council and various departments within the Corporation, will be critical to this position as is a minimum of 5 years experience in a supervisory/management role within a municipal public works environment. -

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Roads Manager is responsible for day-to-day operations and supervision Town’s Roads department staff as they provide the maintenance of Roads, Storm and Sanitary Sewer Systems, Parking and Solid Waste & Recycling. Co-operation and assistance with other Town services Business Plans is required.
The ideal candidate shall have a minimum of three (3) years related experience, as well as management and/or supervisor experience. A three (3) year College Diploma in Civil Engineering, or related discipline and Certified Roads Superintendent Senior (CRS-S) Designation, or willingness to obtain is required..
