The Director, Facility Design, Construction and Maintenance will establish the strategic vision and direction to be taken, and will provide leadership, communication, expert guidance, and financial direction for the daily functions of the division -
Job Number: RPF-185-18 Employment Status: Co-op/Intern Position Overview: Reporting to Technician of Field Services, the intern will initially be involved in data management for our winter operations, followed by summer operations, including inspection of contracted services, dealing with infrastructure within the road allowance, gathering metrics and conducting analysis for departmental reporting. This departmental internship will run from January to August 2019. Responsibilities: This position will be involved in: • Tracking and analysing winter vehicles and materials in order to prepare post event reporting and seasonal material usage. • Inspecting contracted services for compliance, quality and completion. Document and follow up on deficiencies in writing. • Assisting with risk management in the detailed analysis of maintenance activities. • Attend start-up and regular meetings with contractor, ensuring minutes are kept. • Ensure measurements for record keeping and infrastructure purposes. • Contract administration inducing detailed review of invoices and initial approval for payment Requirements: We are seeking a final year or recent graduate of Civil Engineering Technology program. The successful applicant will have a good understanding of road and sidewalk construction and inspection, repairs and life cycle including understanding of winter maintenance. Experience and working knowledge of GIS and mobile technology along with proficiency of office suite products. This position requires clear and professional communication both verbally and in writing. Ability to work independently and take initiative is a must in this role. Previous experience in co-op/internships or otherwise in municipal or regional work is considered an asset. The Civil Engineering Technologist is responsible for providing engineering review, approval and inspection of municipal services for site plan developments, site alterations and fill permits, driveway and entrance permits, service connection permits, road occupancy permits, and ROW utility location approvals, planning applications and minor variance applications. This may include and is not limited to review, approval, inspection, agreement preparations and reviewing, recommending security reduction and assumption of works. Duties also include undertaking investigations and preparing technical studies related to transportation engineering, traffic control, traffic signage, and by-laws related to traffic and vehicular control. Duties will also include coordination of various Township public works programs and contracts. Provides customer service to residents related to development approvals, permits and Township public works programs. -
