    Job Number: CW-99-18 Employee Group: CUPE Local 1540 Employment Status: Full Time Permanent Position Overview: The Intermediate Technician-GIS is responsible for supporting the maintenance and dissemination of both geospatial data and applications in the corporate GIS environment. Other responsibilities for this position include maintenance of property records in the corporate property information system, interpretation of survey plans, assignment of house numbering, cartographic design and production, as well as engineering records management. Responsibilities: The Intermediate Technician will be responsible to: • Interpret, analyze and correct various forms of information required to maintain (create, modify, delete) geospatial data that is essential to core City applications. • Provide GIS editing expertise related specifically to asset management feature maintenance ensuring adherence to asset management policy in the collection of geospatial data to provide consistent, reliable information for decision making. • Conduct analysis and create outputs in the form of reports and/or thematic maps ensuring high quality cartographic design and map production. • Ensure that quality assurance for new or revised data conforms to standards laid out in service area standard operating procedures as well as the corporate GIS data collection policy. • Interpret property information supplied by both MPAC and the registry office (Teraview title searching) to perform maintenance of property records in the corporate property information system, coordinating with the GIS for bi-directional access. • Process and analyze Ontario Parcel Alliance Data (OPA) for the maintenance of the corporate parcel fabric in the GIS, linked with the corporate property information system. • Assign municipal house numbers to new properties or buildings created by plans of subdivision, condominiums, land severances, consolidations or change of address requests and communicate to appropriate recipients. • Maintain easement, subdivision, condominium and reference plan GIS layer using coordinate geometry to ensure the accuracy of these layers are kept at their appropriate level. • Respond to queries from public, other staff, outside agencies and consultants. Requirements A three-year post-secondary education in Geomatics or in civil engineering enhanced with three or more years GIS experience (ESRI software preferred). You have experience and skills interpreting various survey plans. You have excellent attention to detail and ability to interpret data. You will have exceptional written and verbal communication skills as you will be required to collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to meet deliverables.
