Responsible for the implementation of the City’s active transportation systems in accordance with on-going Transportation Master Plan and Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan updates and requirements. Supports the Active and Sustainable Transportation Project Manager and collaborates with the Transportation Planning Team on the City led and third party projects. Provides technical expertise to transportation planning and engineering initiatives, with specific focus on implementation of the pedestrian and bicycle networks. Develops and implements active transportation programs. -

Reporting to the Chief Administration Officer, the General Manager must be an excellent leader with outstanding organizational skills to oversee the Public Works Commission which currently includes the departments of: Continuous Improvement, Downtown Revitalization, Operational Services, Environmental Services, Engineering Services, Fleet & Transit and Facilities & Asset Management. The role requires an in-depth understanding of municipal operations, asset management and financial planning, and is responsible for directing the development of departmental work plans and associated operating and capital budget forecasts. Facilitating the development of key departmental initiatives including policy creation, best practices and standards, divisional organization, and strategic optimization planning are also key functions of this position.

Do you excel at planning, organizing, implementing and managing maintenance programs and projects? If so, this exciting career opportunity with the City of Hamilton is for you.
Reporting to the Manager of Plant Maintenance and Technical Services, you’ll develop, oversee and supervise the safe, efficient and effective delivery of the maintenance program for Hamilton Water’s Water and Wastewater Plant Operations. Accountable for day-to-day maintenance operations, you’ll coordinate contractor activities and provide technical support, oversight, clear instructions and adequate training for all trades and trade supervisors, including electricians, instrumentation technicians, and millwrights, while ensuring that maintenance programs and activities are compliant with all applicable policies, procedures and regulations.
As a Plant Maintenance Superintendent, you’ll draw on your maintenance background in a highly technical operational environment as you monitor programs and make recommendations for improvement based on maintenance data, new equipment and technology, and best practices. You’ll also be expected to provide support in the development and implementation of, and adherence to, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation standards on projects implemented under the City’s Capital Programs.
