Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, the Project Manager position is responsible to provide leadership and management of the planning, design, implementation and construction of linear municipal infrastructure and support the municipalities Drinking Water Quality Management System.

Under the direction of the Director of Public Works and Engineering, be responsible for the direct supervision and coordination of the survey, inspection, and drafting departments.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Responsible for managing daily operations of the Engineering Department and coordination and management of specialized municipal infrastructure and capital works projects including detailed design and construction activities, Environmental Assessments, engineering studies and project administration;
- Directs, supervises, coaches Engineering Staff;
- Provides leadership and technical expertise;
- Working collaboratively and in partnership with other departments;
- Remain current in relevant matters, including legislation, regulations, practices, procedures
- Manage regular bridge inspections;
- Perform annual staff evaluations;
- Ability to work outside normal business hours and respond to emergencies “after hours” as required; and
- Perform other duties as required.

The Engineering Department at the City of Barrie manages the planning, construction and rehabilitation of the City’s infrastructure assets and preserves the City’s natural assets. Under the general guidance and direction of the Supervisor of Engineering, the Engineering Project Manager is responsible for undertaking and directing capital and operating projects for the City of Barrie’s municipal infrastructure. Specifically, this position manages the design, utility coordination, approvals, tendering and administration of assigned capital and operating projects for a unit in the Renewals section of the Design Branch. Additionally, this position assists in the planning of capital and operating projects for expansions and improvements to the City’s infrastructure and provides technical advice and guidance with respect to the impact of development on municipal networks. Overall, this position plays an integral role in supervising assigned projects to ensure projects are delivered on scope, on schedule, and within budget in accordance with City standards, and to enable the City of Barrie to continue to deliver the services that it provides; maintain community sustainability; and to provide a high quality of life for the citizens and visitors of the City of Barrie.

Purpose of position and profile Ensures Township infrastructure engineering records, maps, documents and drawings are regularly updated and maintained to reflect all additions, changes, and as-built conditions. To perform engineering duties along with construction inspections on public infrastructure services and works associated with development and capital projects. To ensure adherence to common engineering standards and construction drawings as approved by the Township and their consultants.
