Under the direction of the Director of Transportation and Infrastructure Planning, the Manager, Transportation Planning is accountable for:
• Leading, managing, supporting, developing and motivating the Transportation Planning Section for the City of Mississauga in a collaborative team environment of six staff
• Setting and managing the Section’s Work Plan to ensure that performance expectations are achieved
• Providing strategic leadership in multi-modal, multi-disciplinary transportation planning at the City
• Developing and monitoring the City’s strategic transportation planning policies and goals to support the City’s Strategic and Official Plans
• Preparing and updating the transportation component of the City’s Official Plan and District Plans
• Undertaking transportation studies to support various corporate and departmental projects and initiatives
• Developing and applying the City’s travel demand forecasting model to support various projects and studies
• Developing a multi-modal transportation master plan for the City
• Developing medium and long-range transit plans
• Initiating the planning for major rapid transit projects
• Preparing transportation policies and schedules for official plans, transportation planning input to development review, transportation environmental assessment studies and background transportation development charges studies
• Representing the Transportation and Works Department on various City projects
• Representing the City on various external projects and studies by agencies, such as MTO, Metrolinx (GO Transit), the Region of Peel, the Greater Toronto Airports Authority, and neighbouring GTA municipalities
• Initiating research on a variety of related public policy issues and recommending new initiatives
• Reviewing and commenting on transportation planning related policies and legislative changes at senior levels of government
• Attending public meetings on various transportation planning matters
• Preparing correspondence and corporate reports on various transportation planning matters
• Preparing and giving technical evidence as an expert witness at Ontario Municipal Board Hearings
• Providing technical support for various transportation infrastructure components of the Capital Budget
• Perform other related duties as assigned.Here's what you need to bring to this job:
• A university degree in transportation planning, engineering or a related field
• 10 years’ experience in long range transportation planning, strategy and policy research, development and implementation
• Experience in supervising, motivating, training and managing a diverse group of employees
• Ability to promote and foster teamwork within the Section and as a member of the Transportation & Infrastructure Planning management team
• Ability to solve complex issues, in a multi-disciplinary context
• Strong leadership, conflict resolution, facilitation and decision-making skills with the ability to find collaborative solutions
• Demonstrated judgment and decision-making skills with the ability to determine an effective course of action that drives progression
• Politically astute with the ability to manage and resolve issues involving multiple interests

An excellent leader with outstanding organizational skills, the General Manager oversees the Public Works Commission including Operational Services, Environmental Services, Engineering Services, Fleet & Transit and Facilities & Asset Management departments. The position requires an in-depth understanding of municipal operations and financial planning, and is responsible for directing the development of departmental work plans and associated operating and capital budget forecasts. Job Description
Major Responsibilities:
• Operates, maintains and repairs process equipment and related appurtenances in an advanced water or wastewater facility, including, but not limited to, pumps, pressure vessels, valves, compressors, gas engines, electric generators, boilers, HVAC systems, sludge de-watering equipment, incinerators, digesters, chemical feed equipment, filtration equipment, floatation systems and refrigeration units, etc., in compliance with O. Reg. 219/1.
• Accountable for personal performance and promoting optimum team performance in achieving work area process objectives in Toronto Water. Fosters and supports a team environment.
• Assumes responsibility for the operation of related equipment in the applicable work area and provides technical and operational expertise as required.
• Provides work direction to staff as per O. Reg. 219/01.
• Inspects, monitors, tests, records and analyzes process equipment to optimize performance, taking into consideration cost, local and/or facility-wide process impacts, equipment capabilities, possible environmental impact, etc., and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements and standard operating procedures. Conducts tests and adds chemicals as required.
• Utilizes operating/maintenance systems such as the Process Control System (PCS), Electronic Operating System (EOPS), Work Management System (WMS), and Performance and Operations Management System (POMS) to ensure optimum operating performance.
• Makes timely operational decisions and addresses/responds to alarm conditions and emergencies to ensure operational sustainability and efficiency within established performance and quality limits.
• Isolates and locks out equipment to support/perform maintenance activities.
• Ensures cleanliness and safety of facilities by maintaining and cleaning work areas and promoting same.
• Utilizes process operations, sampling and laboratory analysis results to interpret equipment performance. Performs process control and operational laboratory tests, boiler water tests as required.
• Maintains documentation of all work area activities using a manual and/or computerized system, including, but not limited to, logbook administration, computer records review, accident reports, alarm responses, etc.
• Initiates material purchase orders, issues materials documents, receives materials, maintains inventories and records and follows up on maintenance quality.
• Initiates the call-in of other applicable/qualified staff on evening and weekends to deal with emergencies.
• Trains, directs, assists and supports skilled, semi-skilled, unskilled staff and trainees as required.
• Performs all work assignments safely in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Regulations that apply to this work and other related legislation.
• Works rotating shifts.
Key Qualifications:
Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:
1. Must possess and maintain a current Certificate of Qualification as a Stationary Engineer Second Class or better, in accordance with O. Reg. 219/01 as amended.
2. Must possess and be able to maintain a valid Province of Ontario, Class “G” Driver’s License and must have or shall be required to obtain required City permit for assigned vehicle(s) and equipment.
3. If offered employment in this classification without holding any Ministry of the Environment (MOE) Operator Certification of Competency-Wastewater Treatment System or an Operator-in-Training (OIT) license, the successful applicant will be required to write and pass the Level 1 certification exam in the appropriate discipline within 90 days from their employment start date in this classification and must also attain their full Level 1 license within one year from their start date in this classification and maintain the license while in this classification.
4. Must have a Grade 12 secondary school diploma, or equivalent as recognized by the MOE.
You also must have:
• Knowledge of the processes, procedures and equipment used in advanced wastewater and/or water treatment and/or water distribution (transmission) operations.
• A practical knowledge of process control automation systems with ability to interpret process information.
• Working knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and record keeping.
• Must have a working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and demonstrated ability to operate utilizing standard operating procedures.
• Must have knowledge of applicable environmental and other applicable regulations that apply to this business environment (Water & Wastewater Treatment and/or Water Distribution and/or Wastewater Collection, including construction sites).
• Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• An ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing, prepare detailed reports and maintain neat and accurate operating records, as per regulatory requirements.
• Must possess computer skills, including the ability to operate various software programs, make necessary calculations and interpret data to ensure processes stay in compliance.
• Knowledge of sampling techniques, analytical procedures with the ability to interpret and make process adjustments.
• An ability to work well in a team environment.
• A demonstrated interest in continuous learning.
• Ability to operate a forklift truck and scissor lift and obtain the appropriate licenses.
• Ability to work from heights and to perform work in confined spaces.
• Ability to work outside normal working hours, including shifts, weekends, overtime and to report to call-outs.
• Ability to orient new staff on assigned vehicles/equipment.

Reporting to the Executive Director of the City of Toronto's Engineering & Construction Services division, you will provide direction, leadership and oversight in the delivery of Division-wide services. These will include engineering, land and property surveys; construction inspections; administration of contracts, tenders and payments; information technology services; and the development of technical standards and specifications related to the design and construction of municipal infrastructure.
As Director of Engineering Support Services, you will lead the Section in providing expertise, advice and project management in the areas of engineering standards and specifications development; research and development; pilot project implementation and assessment; special investigations; new and emerging technologies and practices related to divisional work areas; product assessments; and, engaging research institutes and academic institutions in the development and assessment of new technologies, approaches and practices.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate for the role of Director of Engineering Support Services will have:
• Extensive experience in managing and overseeing engineering, land, and property surveys, construction inspections, administration of contracts, tenders and payments, IT services, and the development of technical standards and specifications related to the design and construction of municipal infrastructure.
• Extensive experience in developing, designing and implementing service delivery strategies, policies and programs based on evaluation of operational processes, to ensure that design and construction of municipal infrastructure conforms to required standards, specifications, procedures, etc.
• Considerable experience delivering continuous improvement of performance through analysis, development and implementation of sound management practices and processes.
• Knowledge of financial reporting processes, including budget preparation and control, expenditure forecasting, preparation and interpretation of financial reports, and reporting on Key Performance Indicators.
• Highly developed communication skills to interact effectively with all levels of the organization, both orally and in writing, and achieve results in a unionized and non-unionized environment.
Salary Range: $142,087 – $166,948 per year

The Town of Erin is currently looking for a qualified Director of Infrastructure and Operations. The Town is an urban and rural municipality located in Wellington County with a population of 11,700.
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
The responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Leadership to the Infrastructure and Operations Team including roads and bridges, water supply and distribution, storm water management, parks maintenance and maintenance of public facilities/buildings.
• Responsible for management of Public Works department through Superintendents in accordance with Town management policies,
• Manages assigned staff resources according to management practices and Town management policies.
• Manages financial resources, prepares draft budget submissions, recommends expenditure for the acquisition and/or replacement of equipment, vehicles and repairs/maintenance of municipal facilities and buildings,
• Responds to requests for information from the public and resolves public complaints,

The ideal Professional will have:
• Preference for a four year technical university degree in engineering or three year engineering technical diploma with an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A minimum of 10 years progressive public works operational and maintenance experience in a leadership capacity,
• Preference will be given to those with Ministry of Environment and Climate Change water distribution and treatment certifications and/or road superintendent certifications.
• Ability to organize, manage and promote public services and utilize resources effectively,
• Strong organizational, leadership and supervisory abilities,
• Good analytical and problem solving skills,
• Good communication and public relation skills, both written and verbal,
• Strong knowledge of public works operations and the use of equipment and materials
