Proactive and engaged, you will be responsible for overseeing all technical studies, reports, and development-related detailed design drawings for all current and pending development engineering applications within the Town of Innisfil. You will review, approve, and/or direct the review of lot grading plans for conformance to approved master grading plans, Town engineering standards, and/or sound engineering practices, all in compliance with various statutes. Your degree in civil engineering and P.Eng. designation from the PEO are supported by a minimum of seven years of significant, demonstrated engineering design and project management experience of municipal subdivisions. You also have significant experience in civil engineering within a public works/municipal/transportation/water/wastewater/storm water environment and working knowledge of municipal infrastructure design, drafting, plans review, development, storm water management, and lot grading as well as related legislation. A valid Class G driver’s licence in good standing is required.
Salary range: $82,221.00 – $99,940.00 per annum with a competitive benefit package.

As an integral member of the Engineering Services department, you will take a lead role in Capital Works projects from feasibility studies through construction and to final completion and close out. You will perform project management, contract administration, site reviews, arrange budgets, prepare and review RFPs , RFQs , RFTs, analyze bids, procure services, and respond to general enquiries from the general public, other levels of government, contractors, and consultants. The primary focus of this contract position is to effectively manage the consultants and contractors through the design and construction for a $30 million upgrade to the Alcona Water Treatment Plant.
You have a diploma in civil engineering technology and a minimum of 10 years of experience or are a professional engineer with seven years of experience, preferably in municipal water treatment or major municipal engineering projects. Additionally, you have a working knowledge of municipal infrastructure design, plans review, public engagement, contract administration of municipal infrastructure as well as the Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, and relevant legislation/guidelines/policies and procedures. You have obtained or are eligible to obtain a CET or P.Eng. designation. Your excellent interpersonal, project and time management, communication, presentation, and public relations skills allow you to effectively interact with all levels of staff and contacts in a customer service-focused environment. You have the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite as well as AutoCAD. A valid Class G driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle to use for corporate business are considered assets.

If you’re a Professional Engineer, and your project management and engineering experience is coupled with the ability to interpret engineering plans, drawings and specifications, consider joining the City of Toronto’s Engineering Review team.
As an Engineer in Development Engineering, you will act as a case manager in the review of development applications made under the Planning Act, including official plan amendments, secondary plans, subdivisions, re-zonings, land divisions, site plans and condominium proposals.
More specifically, as a case manager, you will coordinate all City infrastructure-related comments and correspondence to Community Planning, Legal and Finance, and review engineering studies and plans (including servicing, stormwater management and geotechnical reports) submitted in support of development applications. Your role as an Engineer will also include determining the scope and cost of all new City infrastructure required to support the proposed development, and discussing, negotiating and reviewing development agreements to ensure that all infrastructure-related matters are properly captured. It will be your responsibility, as well, to oversee the construction of the development-related municipal infrastructure, including providing direction to inspection staff to ensure compliance with the accepted design, City policies and by-laws, and the management of associated securities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Your primary responsibilities as an Engineer will be varied. Specifically, you will:
•Manage assigned projects, ensuring effective teamwork and communication, high standards of work quality and organizational performance, continuous learning and maintenance of related data.
•Provide technical advice, review and expertise, and utilize standard engineering principles and practices to assist in the operation, development and maintenance of the Division's programs, facilities and equipment.
•Plan, investigate and prepare reports and recommendations concerning engineering problems of moderate complexity and/or assist senior engineers in resolving more complex problems.
•Ensure problem-solving by using a combination of standard procedures, modification of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
•Prepare and inspect drawings, engineering studies, specifications, plans and cost estimates as they pertain to the construction or modification of the Division's facilities and operations.
•Secure all engineering permits and approvals that may be required from external agencies.
•Represent the City on committees, attend meetings and provide input.
•Liaise with the public, developers, consultants, stakeholders, councillors, other divisions and government agencies about projects, programs and developments.
•Carry out varied engineering assignments within a broad field of engineering.
•Prepare engineering analysis, and evaluate and recommend new systems, work procedures and technologies with the potential to improve the performance of the Division.
•Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of technological developments in the field of engineering.
•Assist in the preparation and/or provision of expert witness testimonies.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
Your application for the role of Engineer must describe your qualifications as they relate to:
•Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
•Experience applying the principles of Engineering related to the Job Summary.

•Proficiency using general computer software, including Microsoft Windows XP, Excel and Word.

•Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, at all organizational levels.

•Ability to collaborate and work effectively with contractors, colleagues, elected officials, consultants, developers, and other internal and external clients and stakeholders.
•Ability to plan, supervise and direct the work of staff, including an understanding of modern principles and practices of management and management controls.
•A valid Province of Ontario Class G driver's licence is required, and daily access to a vehicle may be required, to travel to various work locations and construction sites in a timely manner.
Salary Range: $82,806 - $97,297 per year
