    Reporting to the Manager of Development and Traffic Engineering, the Engineering Development Technologist will review and comment on Engineering related issues for land severance applications, subdivision applications, site plan applications, Niagara Escarpment Commission applications, Committee of Adjustment applications and Municipal consent applications, Official Plan Amendment applications, site alterations and provide on-site inspection to ensure compliance with appropriate standards and specifications. Customers include the land development industry, outside approval agencies, other Town departments including the Mayor and Members of Council.

    You will be accountable for:
    • Evaluating and approving engineering issues through development applications for land severances, subdivisions, site plan applications, Niagara Escarpment Commission applications, Committee of Adjustment applications and Municipal consents, and Official Plan Amendments
    • Interpreting and administering the terms and conditions of Development applications, site alteration permits and entrance/excavation permits
    • Planning and organizing required on-site inspections to review compliance with development applications, mud deposits and site alteration permits
    • Responding to inquiries from Town Departments, elected officials, members of the public and external agencies
    • Attending site meetings to ensure compliance with development applications and site alterations
    • Reviewing and approving securities required for development applications and site alterations
    • Providing the highest standard of customer service for both internal and external customers of the department, in compliance with the Town standards
    • Performing all other job related duties as directed

    You possess:
    • 3 Year Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology Program or equivalent education and experience
    • Registration with O.A.C.E.T.T. with a C.E.T. designation

    • 8 years’ experience in a Civil Engineering environment
    • Knowledge of the Land Development and Planning Approval processes
    • Computer literacy in Microsoft office computer software
    • Valid Ontario Class ‘G’ Drivers’ Licence and use of personal vehicle to perform
    duties • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Physical ability to perform heavy lifting

    Compensation: The salary range for this full-time position is $63,437 to $75,521 per annum.

    The City of Cambridge is currently seeking a highly motivated, team orientated, and technically competent individual to join one of the industry’s leading Asset Management implementations. As part of this team, there are opportunities to advance technology, improve business practices, and participate in the establishment of new industry standards in this rapidly evolving profession of Public Infrastructure Management. This position provides appropriate guidance, coaching, mentoring, direction and work delegation to asset management staff; is responsible for the collection, organization, analysis and maintenance of infrastructure assets datasets and coordinates, estimates, prioritizes, and ensures timely delivery of information requested by departmental staff. The position defines the terms of reference for specialized asset condition assessment data collection contracts and administers subsequent contracts and collaborates with staff in other divisions of the department to develop annual and long term condition assessment, reconstruction, rehabilitation, and maintenance programs. Performs ongoing life-cycle cost analysis and needs assessment of the City’s assets.

    Minimum Qualifications Include Possession of:
    •Degree in Engineering;
    •Membership in good standing with the Professional Engineers of Ontario, with P.Eng. Designation;
    •5-7 years experience in Engineering, Public Works, or Utilities environments; and
    •Hands-on experience with Arc GIS, ESRI Geodatabases, Needs assessment and Capital planning. Knowledge of SQL and Maintenance Management Systems such as Maximo will be an asset.

    The annual salary range for this position is currently $90,809 – $110,743, along with a 1.5% increase effective July 1, 2014. A comprehensive benefit program is also provided.

    A Professional Engineer whose 10 years of progressive civil engineering and public works experience include at least 6 years at a managerial or supervisory level, you are fully prepared to join the City of Markham’s Operations Department as Director of Operations (Roads & Parks), and manage a multimillion-dollar operating budget for Operations. Reporting to the Commissioner of Community and Fire Services, you will provide leadership and expert advice in the development of public works strategies related to parks, roads, traffic operations, and fleet management, to ensure the delivery of high-quality programs and services for a growing community with evolving maintenance and operational requirements. As Director of Operations (Roads & Parks), you will manage a team of professionals in developing and implementing short- and long-term maintenance and operations programs, and will be a member of the Commission’s senior management team, playing an active role in moving its objectives forward. This leadership role will see you providing direction and vision to a large staff complement of non-union and unionized employees, and working closely with the community, City Council, other levels of government and other City departments, developing partnerships and key integrated services to provide better value for Markham and its constituents.

    Your professional profile as Director of Operations (Roads & Parks) will include:
    •University degree in Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Forestry or related degree (and registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with the Professional Engineers of Ontario if an Engineering degree).
    •Ten years of progressively responsible related experience, at least six of which were at a management and supervisory level.
    •Knowledge of the theory, principles, practices and techniques of roads and parks maintenance and infrastructure management, fleet maintenance, repair and replacement, and traffic engineering.
    •Knowledge of applicable federal and provincial codes, regulations and legislated requirements governing the administration of operations-related functions and activities.

    The salary range for this regular, full-time position is $131,000 to $155,000 per year.

    If you are a Professional Engineer with experience in applying engineering principles in trunk water infrastructure, water or wastewater facilities, join the City of Toronto as a Senior Engineer.

    As an experienced Senior Engineer in Capital Works Delivery, your role will be to lead the delivery of trunk water infrastructure, water and wastewater facilities expansion and renewal projects – from inception through to design, construction and post-construction warranty closeout. You will provide an advanced level of project management gained through leading large-scale projects, where you have developed technical expertise and leadership skills. As a Senior Engineer, you will work closely with internal staff, engineering consultants and contractors to ensure that capital programs are delivered to meet client annual goals and objectives.

    KEY QUALIFICATIONS

    Your application for the role of Senior Engineer must describe your qualifications as they relate to:
    •Must be a qualified Engineer as defined by Professional Engineers Ontario, preferably in the discipline of Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
    •Extensive experience applying the principles of engineering in trunk water infrastructure, water or wastewater facilities.
    •Experience in leading large scale multi-million dollar, multi-discipline and multi-year projects.
    •Experience in developing reports, RFPs/proposals and presentations.
    •Experience in client management and communicating with a diverse group of stakeholders.
    •Extensive experience in design and construction administration related to capital works delivery.
    •Sound knowledge of change orders, claim resolutions and scope management.
    •Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing at all organizational levels.
    •Ability to effectively communicate technical information in a user friendly capacity.
    •Excellent interpersonal and team building skills.
    •Ability to collaborate and work effectively with contractors, colleagues, elected officials, consultants, developers, and other internal and external clients and stakeholders.
    •Considerable knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its Regulations for construction projects.
    •Proficiency in the use of general computer software including Microsoft Windows, Excel and Word.
    •Provides work direction to staff and mentors junior engineering staff on matters relating to the position.
    •Understanding of modern principles and practices of management and management controls.
    •Must possess a valid Province of Ontario Class "G" Driver's License and have daily access to a vehicle to travel to various work locations and construction sites in a timely and efficient manner.

    Salary Range: $89,502 - $111,020 per year
