A full-time opportunity exists in the City’s Engineering Services Division for an experienced Senior Project Engineer. Reporting to the Manager of the Active Transportation & Light Rail Transit Section, this position will be responsible for a range of duties related to municipal transportation planning and engineering. This role involves work in a team-based atmosphere and interaction with other City departments, consulting engineers, elected officials, urban planners, industry representatives, regulatory agencies and the public. -

Bring your knowledge of civil engineering, construction design, economic priority programming, contract law and budgeting to this leadership role.
As an integral part of our Transportation & Environmental Services Department, you will supervise the preparation of preliminary design reports (PDRs) for infrastructure capital projects, performing analyses and risk assessments of PDRs to ensure that projects are prioritized and scoped thoroughly and accurately, and that issues, resourcing and phasing are addressed. The key role of Supervisor, Transportation Capital Program will see you supervising the planning and development of the 10-year Transportation Capital Program (TCP), valued at $920M, as well as administering the TCP and its processes to ensure ongoing program stability and reliability. You will also work with the manager to address long-term strategic funding budget issues and human resourcing for the program.

If you are a registered Professional Engineer or Architect with facility engineering and management experience, backed by a degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or in Architecture, this Facility Engineer (Contract) role within our Asset Management Department is for you.
Reporting to the Manager, Facility Maintenance and Operations, you will carry out facility condition audits, facility lifecycle inventory preparation and lifecycle analysis, facility drawing and data maintenance and management, as well as cost estimation and capital budget development and management. As a contract Facility Engineer, you will also manage lifecycle reserve studies, design, review and project-manage various lifecycle and energy efficiency and sustainability projects, provide facility engineering and technical expertise to City staff, as required / applicable, co-ordinate major project handovers, and review facility asset processes and procedures to ensure the efficient operation, maintenance and management of facilities. -

Responsibilities:
Responsible for the preparation of engineering design drawings to ensure complete and accurate detail in accordance with applicable standards. On-site inspection of capital construction projects.
•Transfer survey data to engineering drawings for the purpose of base plan drafting for capital reconstruction projects.
•Review base plans on site and confirm accuracy.
•Identify design standards for individual projects.
•Undertake design and drafting, including storm water calculations relating to storm water management.
•Undertake design and drafting for local, collector and arterial roads consisting of both rural and urban cross-sections.
•Itemize and calculate construction quantities for inclusion in contract tender documents.
•Provide cost estimates for tendering purposes on capital reconstruction projects.
•Provide financial estimates for capital budgets and forecasts.
•Conduct construction inspection, as required.
•Perform field survey crew duties as required.
•Provide pre-engineering, engineering design drawings and project information to utility companies and outside agencies.
•Maintain and update the drawing filing system and “As Constructed” information.
•Assist contractors and the general public with their inquiries.
•Provide the highest standard of customer service for both internal and external customers of the department, in compliance with the Town standards.
•Attend meetings with Town staff, external agencies and the public to answer inquiries, including off hour meetings.
•Perform other job related duties.
Salary Range: $62,346 - $74,222 -

General Duties:
Reporting to the Manager of Engineering/Deputy Director, Engineering & Development Services, this position is responsible for the design, contract preparation, project management and public liaison of medium to high complexity municipal infrastructure improvement projects including environmental assessments, roads, bridges, sidewalks, intersection improvements, watercourses and storm water management facilities.
Salary Range: $74,240 to $88,381 per annum
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week
