    If your experience in municipal water distribution and wastewater collection system engineering is backed by a degree in Civil, Environmental, Resources or Industrial Engineering, consider this opportunity to join our Environmental Services – Waterworks Department as an Infrastructure Project Engineer.

    Reporting to the Manager, Infrastructure, you will be responsible for the development, updating and implementation of the water and wastewater system sustainable renewal plan, the implementation and administration of projects and programs, as well as supporting long-term capital plan and budget development and maintenance.

    Primary Responsibilities
    More specifically, as an Infrastructure Project Engineer, you will:
    •Carry out analysis, planning, maintenance and administration of system renewal plans, as well as project and program contract preparation, processing, administration and management, including all communications.
    •Ensure supplier and contractor compliance with contracts.
    •Perform service life, lifecycle and replacement cost analysis and adjustments.
    •Liaise with other departments for system data maintenance.
    •Implement and maintain system condition rating.
    •Regularly update decision support system renewal planning.
    •Analyze, evaluate and recommend various renewal technologies for reconstruction and replacement.
    •Assist with, and contribute to, the Waterworks business planning process.
    •Prepare reports and attend meetings, as required.
    •Assist in capital budget preparation and administration.
    •Provide support to other projects and programs, as assigned.
    •Advance, promote, and participate in the corporate and departmental vision, mission, values and initiatives.

    Job Details:
    The Construction Services Coordinator is responsible to oversee all aspects of construction on municipal infrastructure projects throughout the City, including new subdivision construction. Coordinate street light maintenance, repair and replacement. Coordinate and supervise the work of the engineering and construction inspectors.

    Qualifications:
    Requires a minimum of a 3-year College Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology and is registered as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) with the Ontario Association of Certified Technicians & Technologist (OACETT); 4 years experience, post OACETT registration, in the design, construction and inspection of municipal services; and is accompanied by provincial government training and certification in related construction/inspection/installation courses. Must have working knowledge of provincial and municipal policies and procedures related to surveys and construction, the Ontario Provincial Standard Specifications and Drawings, The Ministry of Transportation Construction Manual, Ministry of Labour Laws, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Requires demonstrated experience and expertise in survey and inspection techniques and contract administration related to municipal engineering services installation; knowledge of construction specifications and the ability to interpret technical drawings; good organizational, project management, communication, and problem solving skills. Requires excellent interpersonal, leadership, and supervisory skills to guide the work of professional reporting staff and to work effectively with contractors and suppliers and the ability to prepare technical reports and maintain clear electronic/computerized records.     Reporting to the Manager, Capital Delivery - Engineering, is responsible for planning and implementing large, sensitive and complex capital projects as part of the 10-year Capital program; providing project management services for environmental assessments and the design and construction of bridges, roads, storm sewers, watermains, sanitary sewers, pumping stations and treatment facilities; representing the Branch on corporate initiatives and leading teams in Branch process management and initiatives.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    •Successful completion of a University Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
    •Must be registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with the Professional Engineers Ontario.
    •Project Manager: Minimum of five (5) years’ experience (inclusive of E.I.T. experience) in any or all aspects of bridge, road, storm sewer, watermain, sanitary sewer, pumping station as well as water and wastewater treatment plant design, with demonstrated commitment to design quality and process as well as complex project management experience.
    •Senior Project Manager: Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience (inclusive of E.I.T. experience) in any or all aspects of bridge, road, storm sewer, watermain, sanitary sewer, pumping station as well as water and wastewater treatment plant design, with demonstrated commitment to design quality and process as well as complex project management experience.

    Qualifications and experience:

    • Minimum of five years’ experience (inclusive of the Engineering Intern Training experience) in various aspects of transportation planning, transit and road infrastructure, with demonstrated commitment to quality and process as well as complex project experience.
    • Working knowledge of traffic and transportation engineering and design principles and applications.
    • Progressive experience in planning, design and management of capital projects.
    • Superior organizational and project management skills.

    Responsible for:
    As the Development/Transportation Engineering representative on the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre (VMC) implementation team responsibilities include managing and coordinating the engineering review of land development and municipal servicing projects. Assisting and contributing to City engineering studies and design assignments related to City infrastructure projects in support and development of the VMC including master servicing plans and municipal infrastructure improvements. Participating in development and cost sharing agreements and deliverables, project schedules and project costs. Supporting the formation of strategic work plans and requests for proposals to complete the City’s infrastructure improvements necessary to support development in the VMC. Liaising and coordinating with other agencies, City Departments and the public in order to facilitate the timely delivery of development approvals in the VMC consistent with the strategic goals and objectives of the City.

    Qualifications and experience:
    • Successful completion of a University Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university and registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with the Professional Engineers Ontario. With a minimum of five (5) years of related engineering experience with at least three (3) years of direct experience (inclusive of EIT experience) in high density land development and transportation program delivery functions in planning, engineering and construction.

    OR

    • Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology and full membership in the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists as a Certified Engineering Technologist with a C.E.T. designation. With a minimum seven (7) years of related engineering experience with at least five (5) years of direct experience (inclusive of C.E.T. experience) in high density land development and transportation program delivery functions in planning, engineering and construction.
    • Possesses, or be willing to obtain, a certification as a Project Manager Professional (PMP).
    • Work experience must include extensive project management and contract administration experience.
    • Thorough knowledge of land development and transportation planning principles, concepts, practices, methods, legislation and GTA context and roles of different levels of government.
    • Knowledge of transit systems, roads planning and design standards.
    • Superior time management, negotiation, problem solving and communication skills
    • Computer literacy utilizing MS Office software applications and proficient with specialized software relevant to the technical specialty.
    • Ability to identify issues, challenges and opportunities as well as build consensus and present information to varied audiences.
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
    • Valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s licence in good standing with a reliable vehicle for corporate use.
    • Ability to work outside regular business hours, as required.
