    Reporting to the General Manager of the Public Works Commission, this position will develop and lead a project team responsible for working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the design, construction and completion of the Downtown Infrastructure Renewal and Revitalization Program. This program is a major urban renewal project for the City of Brantford and will require significant engagement with a variety of stakeholders. The 2018-2027 Capital Budget identifies $84.5 million in projects associated with the Downtown Infrastructure Revitalization and Renewal Program, which includes a variety of full corridor reconstruction, bridge improvements and other infrastructure projects. These complex engineering projects will take a number of years to complete and will result in the transformation of the City of Brantford’s downtown streetscape.

    As a Building Engineer, you will examine and review permit plans and specifications for conformity with the Ontario Building Code, Zoning bylaw, Building bylaw and other applicable laws. This will see you examining and analyzing structural systems, life support systems, including smoke control measure, building services and fire suppression systems. We will also count on you for expertise, as you advise and assist design professionals in the design of buildings by engaging in preliminary design discussions and providing technical design information, materials evaluation and code interpretation.
