Reporting to the Supervisor, Development Approvals this position is responsible to co-ordinate and prepare comments and conditions of approval on various development applications. Review, provide comments and approve grading and drainage plans prior to the issuance of building permit. Ensure compliance with municipal and provincial standards for the protection of public interests and the environment.

Assists Environmental Services Engineers in planning, designing, programming engineering infrastructure within various Engineering and Operational Divisions in the Service Area. Duty assignments are rotated amongst the Divisions for periods of approximately one year - over a total four-year program. The program is aimed at developing engineering management expertise within the Service Area. The position reports to the City Engineer for purposes of annual assignments and career management, and reports to Environmental & Engineering Services Engineers or Division Heads within the respective Divisions for professional direction and supervision in day to day tasks.

As Project Manager, you will lead and manage the planning, design and implementation of municipal infrastructure projects through an assigned team of technicians/technologists, consultants and support staff. With a university degree and a professional engineering designation or a 3 year college diploma with a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation, you are a critical thinker and effective communicator, adept at problem-solving and building and maintaining collaborative working relationships.

In accordance with all applicable Federal, Provincial and Municipal Acts and Regulations, responsible for the maintenance and repair of water works infrastructure including basic inspection duties involving valves, hydrants, meters, chambers, mains, service connections, etc. and/or provides assistance in the maintenance and repair of same.

In this role, you will:
- Lead the implementation of regulation 419/05 related to Air Pollution Control.
- Instrumental in developing and implementing compliance activities related to fugitive air emissions and air pollution control for industrial operations, including petroleum refineries and petrochemical facilities under relevant provincial legislation, policies and procedures.
- Provide scientific, engineering and team leadership for the coordination of the leak detection and repair (LDAR) verification actions and guiding technical field staff.
Note: This position may be located at any MOECC office in Sarnia / London or Hamilton and will be determined by the location of the successful candidate.
