The Director is a member of the senior management team, setting and monitoring strategic implementation plans and operational policy.

Ideally a Certified Engineering Technologist or Professional Engineer, with leadership skills and expertise in municipal water or wastewater vertical infrastructure design and construction, you`re ready to join our Capital Works team in this key role with Hamilton Water.
Based in Hamilton, and reporting to the Manager of Capital Delivery, you will assume responsibility for the management of capital works related to design and construction, expansion and upgrades of the City of Hamilton's water and wastewater facilities.

Direct the work flow and provide guidance in the daily work of the Municipal Technicians who are responsible for topographical, construction and pre-engineering surveys and construction inspection. Direct the preparation of tenders/quotes/RFP’s and cost estimate. Administer and provide effective project and contract management on various capital projects. Ensure adequate site inspections and work is carried out in a satisfactory manner.

Reporting to the Manager, Capital Engineering and Construction, the Senior Project Advisor (Supervisor) is responsible for the delivery of a suite of major linear water, wastewater, and transportation capital projects, utilizing a combination of in-house and external resources. You will oversee a team of skilled project managers providing day to day supervision, mentoring and coaching. -
Reporting to the Manager, Transportation, you will be an integral member of the transportation planning group responsible for coordinating and managing various transportation planning studies and the review of development-related transportation studies made under the Planning Act, including official plan amendments, secondary plans, plans of subdivision, zoning by-law amendments, and site plans.
As a Transportation Engineer, you will ensure compliance with all applicable City standards and design criteria for roadway designs, interact with all parties associated with development applications, including developers, consultants, planners, lawyers, architects, and other City departments, and conduct technical investigations, analyses, surveys and research to resolve complex transportation problems. Reviewing and reporting on initiatives undertaken by the Province, Region, and other area municipalities, preparing budgets for consulting services, and managing long-range strategic planning studies in accordance with the City of Markham vision will be among your key areas of responsibility. A skilled communicator, you will also prepare reports, briefing notes, and presentations, respond to queries, and represent the City at meetings with the public and stakeholders, and at the Ontario Municipal Board, court proceedings and other tribunals.
