    The Manager, Infrastructure Services is responsible for the managerial oversight of the Municipality’s infrastructure development and assets related to engineering and transportation services and Capital Municipal Projects. The Manager will coordinate engineering services under a Service Level Agreement to the Public Utilities Commission.  In addition the Manager will assist other departments as required in engineering and project management areas.  The position also provides the administration and management of development engineering reviews for compliance of subdivision servicing standards, site plans, and development agreements along with inspections and review of security deposit requirements and releases. The Manager will also be responsible for the Traffic division in which they will be responsibility of prioritizing of traffic related issues within the Municipality and the deployment of resources to address these issues. The Manager will also assist in the creation and maintenance of a Quality Management System for the Engineering and Traffic Division. This position participates on the Manager/Supervisor Team.

    Under the direction of the Director of Engineering Services, the Manager of Capital Projects is responsible for the management, operation and administration of the Town’s infrastructure capital projects including planning, designing, organizing, constructing, and controlling to ensure timely contract completion. Participating in the needs assessment and master planning initiatives as they relate to planning for parklands, trails, facilities, and open spaces. Manages the co-ordination of the design and construction of parks; co-ordinates the review/comment on parkland needs related to development applications. Directs a multidisciplinary team of professional consultants, sub-consultants and contractors for projects ranging in complexity from mature neighbourhood rehabilitation (sidewalks and road reconstruction) to storm drainage systems and bridges. Prepares and administers the capital projects budget; and for the supervision and development of assigned staff.

    Working closely with Council, the City Manager and the Burlington Leadership Team, this is an exciting time for the City of Burlington. Council is finalizing the strategic plan which will not only guide our actions for the next five years, but will also provide a vision for the next 25.

    If you are interested in playing a significant role in this vision, please consider this opportunity. The Director of Roads and Parks Maintenance reports directly to our City Manager. The department’s core services include maintenance of parks & playgrounds, streets, sidewalks and storm sewers; Greenwood Cemetery; forestry; snow clearing and creek maintenance.

    Requirements

    This is a highly operational department that provides key services to our community. As the Director, you will ensure service levels and standards are met and, as such, your key focus will be in the areas of leading people, developing long term strategies, process improvements and change management. You will be an accomplished leader of people who will guide the department’s work using a collaborative and consultative approach. You have a proven ability to work across an organization, coordinating the services to our residents in a seamless manner.

    If your resume demonstrates proficient and strong people and change management experiences, we will consider your background. Typically this position requires a degree from a field such as Public Administration, Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture or a Bachelor of Science. You will have at least five years of senior management experience guiding and developing staff, proven public consultation skills and the ability to expertly communicate with many types of audiences. Your resume will demonstrate your ability to provide strategy and guidance to a highly operational department. Project and financial management experience at a senior level is expected.
