    Location: East Gwillimbury, Ontario. This is a Non-Union position.
    Full-Time
    Project Manager Salary: $98,795 - $116,171 annually
    Senior Project Manager Salary: $107,343 - $126,263 annually

    Reporting to the Manager, Transportation Capital Planning and Engineering, is responsible for planning and implementing large, sensitive and complex capital projects as part of the 10-year Capital program; providing project management services for environmental assessments and the design and construction of bridges, roads, storm sewers, watermains, sanitary sewers, pumping stations and treatment facilities; representing the Branch on corporate initiatives and leading teams in Branch process management and initiatives.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    •Successful completion of a University Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
    •Must be registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) with the Professional Engineers Ontario.
    •Project Manager: Minimum of five (5) years’ experience (inclusive of E.I.T. experience) in any or all aspects of bridge, road, storm sewer, watermain, sanitary sewer, pumping station as well as water and wastewater treatment plant design, with demonstrated commitment to design quality and process as well as complex project management experience.
    •Senior Project Manager: Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience (inclusive of E.I.T. experience) in any or all aspects of bridge, road, storm sewer, watermain, sanitary sewer, pumping station as well as water and wastewater treatment plant design, with demonstrated commitment to design quality and process as well as complex project management experience.
    •A valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s license and reliable vehicle for use on corporate business.
    •Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customer service, communication, team work, initiative/self-management, leadership and accountability, and flexibility/adaptability.
    •Management competencies including results/achievement focus, human resources management, leadership, financial management, business planning, decision making/judgment, representation and professionalism and job knowledge.
    •Contemporary staff supervisory skills including knowledge of collective agreement administration and interpretation, labour relations principles and practices, and relevant employment legislation.
    •Computer literacy utilizing MS Office applications in a Windows environment.
    •Demonstrated project management skills to lead a project or work group, organize numerous tasks, set priorities and meet deadlines.
    •Ability to negotiate/facilitate and present information to varied audiences.
    •Ability to apply sound customer service strategies and innovation in product delivery methods.
    •Ability to identify areas for constructive change and communicate issues and potential solutions to management.
    •Ability to work outside of normal business hours as required.

    POSITION SUMMARY:
    Under the direction of the Supervisor of Engineering Services, organizes and directs the planning, design and construction of County infrastructure such as roads, bridges, buildings, water and wastewater systems.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    Degree in Engineering; Professional Engineer designation; minimum of two years of related engineering experience; knowledge of all areas of sectional responsibility; knowledge of current engineering design standards and construction practices relating to municipal infrastructure, working knowledge of current regulations and legislation; must be thorough and alert to details in project preparation and supervision to prevent financial loss to the County as a result of faulty or inadequate materials, construction practices or health and safety risks to employees or the public; must be able to communicate effectively, including written reports, verbal presentations and computer technology. The ability to use AutoCAD to assist with drawing preparation would be an asset; a valid Ontario driver’s license required.

    Project Engineer
    • two full-time positions

    Positions will fill existing vacancies. You will be responsible for all phases of the design and construction of a wide range of transportation and waste management projects from project inception, through approvals, final design, contract preparation, tendering, and construction administration. Additionally, you will be involved in the maintenance of asset management inventories and conduct on-site inspections and data analysis. You have, at minimum, a four-year engineering degree in an environmental/civil/geotechnical discipline complemented by four to six years of experience in municipal road and bridge design and construction and a P.Eng. designation. Your detailed knowledge of transportation engineering and design, and applicable legislation including environmental assessment and health and safety legislation, is coupled with demonstrated interpersonal and public relations skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and demonstrated expertise with the use of total survey technology, and AutoCAD Civil 3D. Experience in waste management design and construction will be considered an asset. Candidates with lesser qualifications, including a four-year BSc environmental/civil/geotechnical engineering degree with two to four years of relevant experience and APEO eligibility, may be considered for a position as Engineer-in-Training at a lesser salary, provided applicants are able to demonstrate their ability to progress to the full working level. A valid Class G driver’s licence with a clean abstract and access to a personal vehicle is required.     A Professional Engineer, Landscape Architect or Certified Engineering Technician or Technologist will see in this role a great opportunity to join the City of Hamilton as a Senior Project Manager, Waterfront Development.

    Reporting to the Manager, you will be responsible for the planning, design, construction and contract administration of waterfront-related Capital Works, which will see you providing direction to in-house staff, consultants, and project management firms. Your areas of accountability as a Senior Project Manager will include municipal services (sewers, roads, water), public spaces (parks, trails, open spaces, plazas, streetscapes), as well as marinas and shoreline works (breakwater structures, shoreline remediation, docks, piers).

    Your qualifications as a Senior Project Manager, Waterfront Development include:
    •Extensive knowledge of the design and construction of municipal servicing and public realm-related infrastructure, including approval protocols and construction management, acquired through the completion of a university degree in Civil Engineering or Landscape Architecture, or an Engineering Technologist Diploma, each combined with demonstrated relevant, progressive experience.
    •Membership in Professional Engineers Ontario, the Ontario Association of Landscape Architects, or the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists.
    •Demonstrated progressive experience managing municipal design and construction projects, including contract administration.
    •Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing project and capital budgets, workplans, RFP documents as well as tender and contract documents.
    •Thorough knowledge and understanding of standards and requirements, statutes, regulations and by-laws affecting the Department or Section.
    •Effective leadership, facilitation, communication, presentation, interpersonal and organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to effectively manage multidisciplinary staff, stakeholder groups, partners, consultants, project management firms, or design/build firms.
    •Ability to communicate effectively with elected officials, representatives of other levels of government, management, peers, staff, and the general public.
    •Working knowledge of computer software applications.

    The Corporation of the Municipality of Thames Centre Requires a Full-Time Director of Environmental Services/Municipal Engineer (Maternity Leave Contract)

    Thames Centre, a mixed urban and rural municipality experiencing steady and moderate growth (pop. 13,000 and rising), is recruiting an experienced senior manager on a contract basis to cover a maternity leave for its Environmental Services Department. The Director of Environmental Services reports to the Chief Administrative Officer and is accountable to the Council for policy implementation and departmental administration.
