This year, the MEA Workshop’s theme of “For All Seasons” is about the meaning of being a smaller municipality geared towards the tourism industry providing amenities for people of all ages and abilities. This year's Workshop is strategically located at Blue Mountain Resort and is hosted by the three very distinct municipalities of Collingwood, Wasaga Beach and the Town of The Blue Mountains.
From Winter and Summer to shoulder season sports and outdoor activities, this area provides world class amenities. How do municipalities cope with seasonal variations in populations and how do they plan for the future? Ontarians are aging and we are seeing the baby boomer generation retiring. How do all these challanges influence the services provided by municipalities? In this ever-changing world, what are the new technologies that can help municipalities adapt to these changes? Whether it be climate change, demographics, aging infrastructure or simply new technologies all municipalities have the opportunity to do more with less.
