Minister of Transportation Address at ORBA Convention February 5, 2019

On Tuesday February 5, 2019, Minister of Transportation Jeff Yurek presented the government’s vision of a stronger highway network, in front of 600 members of the Ontario Road Builders’ Association (ORBA), at their annual convention in Toronto. MEA Past-President John Thompson was in attendance as an invited guest of ORBA.
Minister Yurek outlined the government’s work to cut red tape, grow the economy, and plan strategic investments that will drive road building and maintenance forward. He affirmed the government’s campaign commitments, including the potential six-laning of Highway 401 to the 416 between Toronto and Ottawa, the environmental assessment for the GTA West Corridor, investments in increased safety on the 401 West and four-laning Highway 17 in Eastern Ontario and Highway 3 in Southwestern Ontario.
