DFO Regional Engagement Sessions - Codes of Practice, and Prescribed Works and Water Regulation

The MEA has been advised by Fisheries and Oceans Canada that they are beginning to deliver virtual technical sessions to stakeholders regarding conservation and protection of fish and fish habitat as part of the Fish and Fish Habitat Protection Program (FFHPP) Engagement Platform.   The purpose of this engagement is to seek advice and input that will shape new departmental policies and regulatory guidance.    Four specific topics related to the conservation and protection of fish and fish habitat they want to cover include: codes of practice; prescribed works and waters regulations; cumulative effects considerations; and, offsetting and habitat banking.

These topics will be presented in two virtual sessions:

During these virtual technical sessions DFO will walk through a short presentation of each of the specific topics and facilitate a Q&A session.  All the presentations are available in the online Engagement Platform at: https://www.talkfishhabitat.ca/index.php as is additional information on each topic area.

The MEA has designated Dave Thompson of Loyalist Township to formally represent the MEA at these sessions; however, the membership in general is encouraged to participate.
