Ontario's Excess Soils Regulation
What You Need to Know and How to Prepare

The Municipal Engineers Association (MEA), in collaboration with Association of Consutant Engineering Companies - Ontario (ACEC-Ontario) are pleased to announce a free webinar to update what municipalities should be aware of when it comes to dealing with and managing excess soils.

In December 2019, the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks released a new regulation under the Environmental Protection Act, titled “On-Site and Excess Soil Management” (Ontario Regulation 406/19) to support improved management of excess construction soil. This Regulation was created to support proper management and re-use of excess soils and to ensure re-usable soil was not going to landfills as “waste”. The Regulation took effect on January 1, 2021 and will be phased in over several years.
Join the Municipal Engineers Association and the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies| Ontario for our 1-hour webinar where our team of expert panelists will be detailing the requirements of the new excess soil regulation and its implications while capturing the relevant legal, municipal, environmental and insurance considerations. There will be an opportunity for Q&A at the end of the session.

Topics to be covered in the webinar include:

  1. Improve Management of Excess Soils
  2. New Regulation under the Environment Protection Act
  3. Proper Management and Re-use of Excess Soils
  4. The Relevant Considerations with Excess Soils
    1. Legal
