Ontario Road Safety Annual Report

The Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) is announcing the release of the 2018 Ontario Road Safety Annual Report (ORSAR).
This year’s report, along with earlier reports and preliminary reports for 2019 and 2020, is available at www.ontario.ca/ORSAR. The combined efforts of MTO’s road safety partners, public education, enforcement and road safety initiatives are making our roads safer for all Ontarians. In 2018, the provincial fatality rate per 10,000 licensed drivers was 0.58, the lowest rate in North America. For 22 years in a row, our province has ranked in the top 5 for road safety amongst all North American jurisdictions.
Ontario's excellent road safety record is the result of a collaborative partnership with many road safety stakeholders, organizations and community volunteers across the province, who share the same commitment to continuously improve driver behaviour, vehicle conditions and infrastructure safety. let's keep working together to reduce the number of preventable fatalities and injuries on our roads.
