As you may know, the OPS Structures Committee published OPSS.MUNI 909 (Prestressed Concrete – Precast Members) in November 2021 in an effort to remedy some obstacles in the standard that were raised by both industry experts and municipal stakeholders. The standard was reverted to the 2013 version to allow for a more productive 2022 construction season for all parties involved.

Now that the standard has been published, the Structures Committee is conducting a full technical review of OPSS.MUNI 909, and would like the request the help of MEA members. To ensure an updated standard that will best serve the needs of all parties, we would like to hear from as many Ontario municipalities (and their consultants and local contactors) as possible.

We are requesting feedback regarding the most recent publication of OPSS.MUNI 909 (November 2021). We would appreciate hearing any recent experiences with tenders involving this standard and pre-cast girders. Please identify strengths of the standard, as well as any obstacles you have faced or foresee.
