Webinar Topic: The Bathurst Street Watermain Replacement Project Ensuring Safety and Reliability in Water Systems

The Bathurst Street Watermain Replacement project, led by the City of Richmond Hill, demonstrates a strategic approach to asset management and municipal infrastructure enhancement. Aligned with the city’s Asset Management Plan, the project prioritizes public health, safety, and service reliability by upgrading the water distribution system to meet both domestic and firefighting standards.

The project includes comprehensive preliminary and detailed design phases, utilizing data-driven assessments and geotechnical investigations to ensure resilience and cost-effectiveness. After securing necessary permits, coordinating utilities, and undergoing a thorough tendering process, construction proceeded with minimal disruption, employing techniques like Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD).

Compliant with Ontario’s Safe Drinking Water Act, this project highlights Richmond Hill’s commitment to regulatory excellence, from design to disinfection and testing. This presentation to the Municipal Engineers Association showcases Richmond Hill’s dedication to delivering innovative, safe, and sustainable water infrastructure projects.
